Master Class in Singing
Motivated by the great success of the masterclasses held by Markus Eiche, John Lundgren, Camilla Nylund, Elena Pankratova, Kammersänger Stephen Gould, Siegfried Jerusalem, Petra Lang, Markus Eiche, Kammersänger Johan Botha and Prof. Michelle Breedt, the Bayreuth Festival is keen to offer a masterclass for young singers as part of the Bayreuth Festival 2024.
The lecturer and director of the 2024 masterclass is KS Waltraud Meier.
The singing masterclass is aimed at music students at the end of their training.
The masterclass ends on 18 August with a public final concert in the Villa Wahnfried hall at 11.00 am.

Master Class in Conducting
Following its introduction in 2017, the conducting masterclass will take place again in 2024. This masterclass is aimed at a maximum of 4 course participants from 24.06.2024 – 24.07.2024, the lecturer of the masterclass conducting over the entire period is Prof. Günther Albers. Additional intensive courses with the maestros of the Bayreuth Festival 2024 will take place during the course period.
The following course objectives will be developed
– Working with singers in solo répétitions, ensemble rehearsals and staged rehearsals
– Planning ensemble rehearsals
– Planning of orchestra seat rehearsals and stage orchestra rehearsals
– Workshops with conductors of the Bayreuth Festival
– Preparation of orchestral corrections and singer criticism
– Musical assistance, stage music, choral assistance
– Collaboration with the KBB, directors/assistant directors and other artistic groups
In addition, course participants should regularly observe musical and scenic rehearsals, orchestral rehearsals and the choral hall.
Prerequisites for course participation:
– Studies (conducting or opera correpetition) at a college or university of music, or completed university studies
– Preference will be given to candidates with good piano skills
