Arrival/Parking Situation

ARRIVING BY CAR

Travelling by car

Bayreuth is easy to reach by car and is located directly on the A9 Munich-Nuremberg-Bayreuth-Berlin motorway. Coming from the north, leave the motorway at the Bayreuth-Nord junction and then follow the signs to the city centre or the Festspielhaus. Coming from the south, take the Bayreuth-Süd junction and follow the signs directly towards the Festspielhaus. The festival driveway via Siegfried-Wagner-Allee and the street “Festspielhügel” will be completely closed to traffic two hours before the start of the performance until approx. one hour after the end of the performance. Access to the car parks will be exclusively via Tristanstraße or Tannhäuserstraße (coming from Grüner Baum) and the street An der Bürgerreuth. Visitors travelling via the A9 motorway – Bayreuth-Nord exit are advised to leave the motorway at Grüner Baum from Riedinger Straße and follow the signs to the Festspielhaus. As experience has shown that a high volume of traffic is to be expected around the Festspielhügel, we recommend that you arrive in good time before the performance begins and have the parking fee ready when you arrive. The parking fees of €10 per day for the visitor car parks “B” and “C” will be collected directly at the entrance to the car parks by the car park attendants deployed by the City of Bayreuth.

Three mobile AC charging points with a total of six charging spaces for electric vehicles are available in car park “B”. Access is possible via the following alternatives:
– Ad-hoc charging via QR code (credit cards/Apple Pay)
– Roaming charging card as in the Bayreuth city area
– Roaming provider app as in the Bayreuth city area

As in previous years, a taxi rank will be set up in the Festspielpark on Tristanstraße.
As a special service, hire cars with a special permit from the City of Bayreuth and taxis will be able to take mobility-impaired passengers travelling via Tannhäuserstraße and the street “An der Bürgerreuth” directly to the restricted area on the Festival Hill or pick them up there after the performance. Departure will be via Siegfried-Wagner-Allee only. However, this regulation will be suspended on 25.07.2024.
On the day of the premiere in particular, 25 July 2024, as well as on individual other days if necessary, extensive stopping restrictions will apply in Gravenreutherstraße, Tristanstraße, Tannhäuserstraße and An der Bürgerreuth. In some cases, these no-stopping regulations will apply from 16 July 2024 for the entire festival period. These must be observed; unauthorised parked vehicles will be towed away by the police.

Arrival by cab or rental car

Arrival and departure by cab via the driveway to the Festspielhaus is possible again. On 25.7.2024, the entire driveway to the hill will be closed to all vehicles.

Access by cab or the BRK mobility service via Siegfried-Wagner-Allee is possible from 26.07.2024 on all event days until 4 pm. From 26.07.2024, a cab rank will be set up on Wolfgang-Wagner-Platz in front of the Festspielhaus. Only cabs and rental cars with a special permit (§46 StVO) and the BRK mobile services will be authorized to enter. These vehicles can only enter via Siegfried-Wagner-Allee.

Especially on the premiere day, 25.07.2024, as well as on individual other days if necessary, extensive no-stopping regulations will apply in Gravenreutherstraße, Tristanstraße, Tannhäuserstraße and An der Bürgerreuth. In some cases, these no-stopping regulations will apply from 16.07.2024 for the entire festival period. These must be strictly observed; unauthorized parked vehicles will be towed away by the police.

Car parks for the severely disabled

Separate, free parking spaces will be designated for severely disabled persons with an official disabled parking permit in car park “A” and on 25.07.2024 in car park “B”. If further assistance is required, the Bavarian Red Cross can be contacted on 0176/25591251.
