Due to a mourning in the closest family circle Valery Gergiev is not able to conduct the performance of „Tannhäuser“ on 13th of August 2019. The Bayreuth Festival has full empathy for this and expresses its sincere condolences to him.

Christian Thielemann will be conducting the performance tonight. The festival management would like to thank him for his willingness to take over the conducting at such short notice.
