With the death of Hans Neuenfels, the theater world loses one of its great artists. Controversial and yet sensitive, provocative and eccentric, a last overall artist of the scene. With his interpretation of “Lohengrin” at the Bayreuth Festival, he provided plenty to talk about, and even to entertain. The idea of the “Bayreuth Workshop” was taken very seriously by Hans Neuenfels every year, and in the sixth festival summer his production was celebrated with standing ovations. With his work he inspired whole generations of actors, singers and directors. We will honor the memory of Hans Neuenfels!
