Her international break-through took place in 2003 as the celebrated Sieglinde performing next to Placido Domingo at the Washington National Opera. Important debuts followed: 2004 Jenufa (Antwerp), 2005 Elsa (Trieste) and Odabella
(Antiquefestival Trier), 2006 Fidelio-Leonore (Glyndebourne) and Ariadne (Teatro Real Madrid), 2009 Isolde (Glyndebourne, 2011 Ruhrtriennale), 2010 Elisabeth (Vienna State Opera) and 2011 Kundry (Barcelona). Anja Kampe is much celebrated in her signature role as Senta which she has sung at the Bayerische Staatsoper, the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie Brussels, the New National Theatre Tokyo and the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, at Covent Garden, at the Teatro Real Madrid, in Hamburg, Munich, Vienna, Zurich and Milano. The artist has a special relationship with the Los Angeles Opera, where she already sang the Fidelio-Leonore (2007), Giorgetta (2008), Sieglinde (2009) and Carlotta (Die Gezeichneten, 2010) as well as with the Bayerische Staatsoper where she sang Senta (since 2006), Ariadne (2009),
Fidelio-Leonore (2010-2011) and Sieglinde in the new Ring (2012), a role she has also sung with Daniel Barenboim in the Ring in Berlin and in Ring at the Bayreuth Festival (2013). Further engagements include Leonore in the new production of Fidelio at Zurich in autumn 2013, Senta at the Bayerische Staatsoper München, Sieglinde in a new production at the Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona and her debut at the Wagner Festival Budapest with the same role.
