Caroline Wenborne
Australian soprano Caroline Wenborne, is a member of the ensemble at the Vienna State Opera since 2007, where she has recently performed roles of Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte), and Donna Anna (Don Giovanni). She can be heard as Gutrune on the Deutsche Grammophon Wagner’s Ring Cycle with Christian Thielemann, recorded at the Vienna State Opera in 2011.

Caroline has performed with many distinguished conductors, including Seiji Ozawa, Daniele Gatti, Adam Fischer, Donald Runnicles, Franz Welser-Moest, Ivor Bolton, Peter Schneider, Marco Armiliato and Jeffrey Tate. In the 2014/15 season she sung with Sir Simon Rattle in Götterdämmerung, and also with Semyon Bychkov in the premiere of Khovanschina.
She was a finalist in many of Australia’s leading singing competitions, including the Covent Garden Scholarship, and the Metropolitan Opera Award. As the winner, of the Opera Foundation Australia German Operatic Award in 2005, she became a member of the Cologne Opera Young Artists Studio, during their 2005/06 season. In 2007 at the Vienna State Opera, Caroline was the recipient of the Eberhard Wächter Medal.
In Australia, Caroline has performed the roles: Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte), Countess (The Marriage of Figaro), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), and Euterpe (Il Parnasso Confuso - Gluck) Caroline’s Concert Repertoire performances include: Stravinsky’s Les Noces, Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, Mozart Requiem and Beethoven 9th Symphonie.
Since 2014, Caroline performs as a soloist with the "Wiener Graben Ensemble”. A Chamber music group formed with members of The Vienna Phiharmonic Orchestra, consisting of String Sextet, Harp and Soprano. Their Performance schedule, has included appearances at Muth (the Wiener Sänger Knaben Concert Hall), and for the Vienna Philharmonic Ball 2015, in the Musikverein - Wien.
During the 2015/15 season at the Vienna State Opera, her performances included: Gutrune (Götterdämmerung), Mascha and Chloe (Pique Dame), Emma (Khovanshchina - Premiere), R.Strauss’ - 4 last songs (Ballet - Meistersignaturen), 4th Magd (Elektra Premiere) and Marianne Leitmetzerin (Rosenkavalier).
In other Venues, Caroline made her debut with great success at the Vienna Volksoper, in the role of Fiordiligi in the Premiere production of Cosi fan tutte. She also made her debut at the Vienna Musik Verein with the Brahms Requiem.
