Tijl Faveyts
The Belgian bass Tijl Faveyts first attracted international attention when he sang Sarastro in DIE
ZAUBERFLÖTE under the musical direction of Daniel Harding at the Aix-en-Provence Festival at the age of only 26. Recent international guest engagements have taken Tijl Faveyts as Gurnemanz PARSIFAL to the Theater Minden, as Rocco FIDELIO to the Staatstheater Wiesbaden and as Fasolt DAS RHEINGOLD to the Wagner Days in Budapest under the baton of Ádám Fischer.
Tijl Faveyts was an ensemble member at the Theater St. Gallen and the Aalto-Theater Essen, where he was able to develop a broad repertoire. Among them are roles like Daland DER FLIEGENDE HOLLÄNDER, König Marke TRISTAN UND ISOLDE, Commendatore DON GIOVANNI, Osmin DIE ENTFÜHRUNG AUS DEM SERAIL, Don Basilio IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA, Sparafucile RIGOLETTO, Ramfis AIDA, Oroveso NORMA, Hunding DIE WALKÜRE, Doktor WOZZECK, Ferrando IL TROVATORE, Gremin EUGEN ONEGIN, Comte des Grieux MANON and many others. Since the 19-20 season, the artist has been an ensemble member of the Komische Oper Berlin.
Guest engagements have taken him to the Semperoper Dresden, to the Bavarian State Opera Munich, the Hessische Staatstheater Wiesbaden, the Oper Bonn, the Oper Köln, the Oper Leipzig, the State Opera Stuttgart, the Vlaamse Opera Antwerp, the Théâtre de la Monnaie Brussels, the Opéra de Lille, the Gärtnerplatztheater Munich, to the Wiener Festwochen, the Theater an der Wien, the ABAO Bilbao, the Teatro Cervantes Malaga, the Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam, the Teatro Modena and Reggio Emilia, Lincoln Center New York, to the NCPA Peking and the Israeli Opera Tel Aviv.
He works and worked with conductors like Giacomo Sagripanti, Kazushi Ono, Fabio Luisi, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Christian Thielemann, Carlo Rizzi, Kent Nagano, Daniel Harding, Antonino Fogliani, Frank Beermann, Marc Albrecht, Stefan Soltesz and directors like Mariame Clément, Barrie Kosky, Frank Castorf, Tatjana Gürbaca, Damiano Michieletto, Vincent Broussard and Stefan Herheim.
As a concert singer, he is regularly invited to sing at venues such as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Musikverein and Konzerthaus Wien, the Dresdner Philharmonie, the Philharmonie Köln, the Concertgebouw Bruges, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and the Philharmonie and Konzerthaus Berlin. His repertoire ranges from Bach's oratorios, Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven and Mendelssohn to the 20th century.
He was a Stipendiat of the Richard Wagner association Minden (2017).
