Tijl Faveyts
The Belgian bass Tijl Faveyts first attracted international attention when he sang Sarastro in DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE under the musical direction of Daniel Harding at the Aix-en-Provence Festival at the age of only 26. International guest engagements have recently taken Tijl Faveyts to the Bavarian State Opera Munich as Vanuzzi DIE SCHWEIGSAME FRAU, to the Philharmonie Cologne and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam as Fasolt DAS RHEINGOLD, to the Semperoper Dresden as Il Re in AIDA (Thielemann), to the Teatro Cervantes Malaga as Rocco FIDELIO and to the Cologne Opera as Colline LA BOHÈME. Tijl Faveyts was an ensemble member at the Theater St. Gallen and the Aalto-Theater Essen (2013 to 2019), where he was able to develop a broad repertoire. Among them are roles like Daland DER FLIEGENDE HOLLÄNDER, König Marke TRISTAN UND ISOLDE, Commendatore DON GIOVANNI, Osmin DIE ENTFÜHRUNG AUS DEM SERAIL, Don Basilio IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA, Sparafucile RIGOLETTO, Ramphis AIDA, Oroveso NORMA, Hunding DIE WALKÜRE, Eremit FREISCHÜTZ, Doctor WOZZECK, Ferrando IL TROVATORE, Gremin EUGEN ONEGIN, Comte des Grieux MANON and many others. Since the 19-20 season, the artist has been a ensemble member of the Komische Oper Berlin. Guest engagements have also taken him to the Bonn Opera, the Vlaamse Opera, the Opéra de Lille, the Théâtre de la Monnaie Brussels, the Gärtnerplatztheater Munich, the Wiener Festwochen, the Theater an der Wien, the ABAO Bilbao, the Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam, the Oper Leipzig, the Staatsoper Stuttgart, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall Moscow, the Lincoln Center New York, the NCPA Kaoshiung and the Israeli Opera Tel Aviv. Tijl Faveyts works with renowned conductors such as: Giacomo Sagripanti, Kazushi Ono, Fabio Luisi, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Carlo Rizzi, Antonino Fogliani, Frank Beermann, Marc Albrecht, Tomas Netopil and stage directors such as Mariame Clément, Barrie Kosky, Frank Castorf, Tatjana Gürbaca, Guy Joosten, Vincent Broussard and Stefan Herheim. As a concert singer, he is regularly invited to sing at venues such as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Musikverein and Konzerthaus Vienna, De Singel Antwerp, the Concertgebouw Brugys and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. His repertoire ranges from Bach's oratorios, Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven and Mendelssohn to the 20th century. In the 2022 / 23 season, the artist had 4 new productions at the Komische Oper Berlin: INTOLLERANZA "Gefolteter", FLIEGENDER HOLLÄNDER "Daland", RUSALKA "Wassermann" and HAMLET "Claudius" plus performances of DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE "Sarastro/Sprecher". Furthermore he had guest performances at the Teatro Communale Modena as "Landgraf" in TANNHÄUSER, at the Munich Opera Festival as "Vanuzzi" DIE SCHWEIGSAME FRAU and at the Semperoper Dresden as "Il Re" in AIDA. Upcomming Engagements: Gurnemanz PARSIFAL (role debut) Minden (Sept 2023); Sarastro ZAUBERFLÖTE, Gremin EUGEN ONEGIN, Daland DER FLIEGENDE HOLLÄNDER and Bartolo LE NOZZE DI FIGARO at the Komische Oper Berlin as well as the role of Capitaine Büller in D.Janssen’s BRODECK (world premiere) at the Vlaamse Opera, Antwerpen / Ghent, , Fasolt at the Wagner Festival in Budapest as well as Jesus in Frank Martins GOLGOTHA with the SingAkademie, Berlin.
