Vytautas Narbutas
Vytautas Narbutas was born in 1962 on February 19th in Klaipėda, Lithuania. Set and costume designer, painter and graphic artist. He graduated art school in Klaipeda (1973-1977), Kaunas Art college (1977-1982 artistic woodworking), Vilnius Academy of Arts (1982-1990), gained a stage and costume designer's specialty. Teachers - Regina Songailaitė-Balčikonienė, Vitalijus Mazuras, Dalia Tamuliavičiūtė.
He started to work in theater, films and opera from 1982 and since than he has created numerous sets and costumes in his native country Lithuania, and various other countries. Vytautas Narbutas works as well in painting and graphic arts. He has exhibited his artworks in Lithuania, Finland, Japan, Foray islands and Iceland. In 2016 oil painting “Madonna with Icelandic landscape” was included to Louvre photo collection.
Since 1998 he works and lives in Iceland.
Many times nominated for "Grima"-the Theater Award of Iceland, in 2008 nominated for the annual national organization - Icelandic designers Association award, in 2013 "Grima"-the Theater Award of Iceland for the Best set design for Einar M.Guðmundsson, Angels of the Univers (dir. Þ.Arnarsson).
