Ya-Chung Huang is fast establishing himself as one of the leading Spieltenors of his generation; beginning his career at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, he now regularly performs on many of the worlds leading stages.

Ya-Chung Huang recently made his debut at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as Goro Madama Butterfly, a role he will also sang at the Bayerische Staatsoper and he made his debut at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma as the Torquemada in a new production of L’Heure espagnole conducted by Michele Mariotti. While at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, highlights included Mime Das Ring des Nibelungen and his role debut as Chairman Mao in a new production of Nixon in China.

Ya-Chung made his debut with the Netherlands Radio Orchestra in a concert performance of Mime Siegfried conducted by Karina Canellakis and with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra as Ein junger diener in a concert performance of Elektra conducted by Kirill Petrenko.

Further ahead, Ya-Chung will return to The Royal Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, the Bayreuth Festival. Recent guest engagements have included his debut at Theater an der Wien as the Schoolmaster in a new production of The Cunning Little Vixen directed by Stefan Herheim; at Dutch National Opera as Pong in Barrie Kosky’s new production of Turandot; at the Staatsoper Hamburg as Bardolfo Falstaff and at the Bayerische Staatsoper as 1st Jew Salome conducted by François-Xavier Roth.

Ya-Chung has been a member of the Ensemble at the Deutsche Oper Berlin (2018-2024), and in the 2022/23 season made role debuts as Mime Das Ring des Nibelungen and as David in a new production of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg; he has also appeared as Jaquino in a new production of Fidelio and as Pedrillo, Monostatos, Goro and Pong.
